Titled "Opportunities and Advantages of Home Warranty Disclosure", the newly configured course can now be attended in three one-hour sessions, rather than a single three-hour-block, reports Ray Adams, HWAC president. "Our new format provides the real estate community with greater flexibility to attend the course, and greater ease of scheduling by local real estate companies and realty boards. The course will reach more professionals who are more likely to have one hour available than three," Adams said. He added that with the combination of over eight of every existing homes sold in California today having a home warranty, and the ongoing strength of the homebuying market, every real estate brokerage and agent should consider taking this course, which updates the most recent information about the home warranties in California. The three-hour course, prepared by HWAC and carried out by HWAC-trained instructors, is available to California real estate licensees and fulfills DRE requirements for continuing education in real estate. The course has been approved for two years by DRE under the designation Consumer Protection (Code Section 10170-10171.6). Topics covered in the course include: the value of a home warranty in today's real estate transactions, Department of Insurance and the Home Protection Company Act, the typical home warranty contract (including non-covered items), glossary of home warranty terms, disclosure of home warranty contracts to seller, disclosure to buyer, and advantages of the home warranty to the licensee.
